Nobody likes litter. And by nobody, we mean us, so don't do it. Handily, Recycle Now sent us some tips earlier on in the week about on how to recycle at festivals (when, to be fair, it can be hard to find a bin), so have a read and pay attention. Admittedly some of them are more practical than others (does anyone have a solar powered charger? Seriously?) so as long as you stick to using toilet paper as toilet paper rather than a guided missile, you should be able to feel vaguely virtuous. But yeah. Take a decent plate and some cutlery from home. Just don't forget them.
· try and choose a rucksack or bag made from recycled materials; · re-use a plastic shopping bag to keep loo roll, clothes, clean underwear and dry socks from getting soggy if it rains; · buy reusable rather than throwaway items like razors, disposable cameras etc; · make the most of recycling points, pick cans rather than plastic bottles of drinks if these can be recycled at the event; · look out for tissues, loo roll and bin bags at your local supermarket that are made from recycled paper and plastic to take to the event; · empty large bottles of soaps and shampoos into smaller re-usable ones; · consider a solar powered charger for cameras, mobiles or MP3 players or use rechargeable batteries; · use mobiles to take photos and if it’s a new one remember to recycle the old one through a mobile phone recycling scheme, for example, www.fonebak.com. · take re-usable cups, plates and cutlery rather than throwaway plastic and paper ones; and · remember to separate bottles and cans from general waste and take to the festival recycling points.
