Stars 'turn up the Volcanicity'. Or something.

This year's sponsors of the Lovebox Weekender, Volvic, have been hugging themselves like mad for coming up with the slogan 'Turn Up The Volcanicity'. In fact, they're so pleased that they've grabbed a load of musos and ask them what their idea of this not-actually-existing state of mind could best be described as. Can you tell it's nearly the end of the week? Anyway, we *think* it translates as being 'What's the best thing about festivals / music / stuff?' Poor old James Blunt! Granted, his music is horrid but he always does very funny interviews.

Andy Cato, Groove Armada
“When you come out of the stage wings, the sunshine hits your eyes and you look out to see tens of thousands and happy faces smiling back at you waiting to be entertained - that's Volcanicity for me!”

Gilles Peterson, Radio 1
“For me, you just can’t beat London as the hippest place on the planet, and the Volvic Lovebox Weekender 2006 was surely proof of that!”

Murdoch Niccalls, Bassist, Gorillaz
“Black Sabbath. That’s it for me. One band, that’s all I need” ..though I suppose tipping a cauldron of hot lava over James Blunt on stage sounds quite appealing to us!”

Tony Wilson, Founder of Factory Records and the Haçienda
“I have always revered the moment at a festival when during the night something totally epoch-making takes place. Such as applauding the DJ… Not the music, not the musician, not the creator, but of all things - the medium…it’s episodes like that back when the dance age was formed that you witness the musical landscape shift before your eyes”

Peter Hook, New Order
“When people at festivals started mimicking that lo-slung bass thing I did with my guitar on stage! I didn’t even know I was doing it, let alone it being a desirable trait to copy…Most of the time was just finding it hard to stand up!”

Tom Findlay, Groove Armada
“It might be a bit strange to some, but I get that whole ‘back to nature’ vibe when I’m out at a festival, just me, my nearest and dearest and the elements… you know, there’s something about being outdoors that brings out the best in the music.”

Clint Boon, Inspiral Carpets, The Clint Boon Experience
“Both noisy and romantic at the same time, nothing better for me than pitching up in the busiest tent in the whole festival in company of my pretty, young wife and getting well and truly stuck in…..to the music of course!”

Aww, isn't that nice?
