Gypsy punks (WHY has no one put those two words together before?) Gogol Bordello (or those!) are going to headliner Friday night at Bestival (September 8 - 10) which is very good news for, well, pretty much everyone actually. Having seen them at Wireless and bits of them through a shove of bodies at Lovebox, we can solemnly swear that they are brilliant live, a fact presumably noted by festival curator Rob Da Bank when he booked them.
"“I’ve been chasing Gogol Bordello since Christmas to do Bestival and finally bribed and cajoled them to move recording commitments," says Da Bank. "We are really, really pleased they are headlining the Friday night. They’re easily the most exciting live band I’ve seen in 2006."
Guillemots have also been added to the bill, playing just before Pet Shop Boys (er, nice combination right there) and Future Sounds of London will headline the Blue Pavilion which should be very nostalgic for all of us. |
BORDELLO!!!!
